SORGUES 2009 |
Date: 31st January & 1st February 2009. Report by Pascal Descloux This weekend the 4th edition of Sorgues gameroom show took place.
Sorgues is located just a few miles away from Avignon in the south of France. Entrance was 3 euro and gave access to the full weekend.
Around sixty machines were exhibited with a few more arcades, slots machine, and jukeboxes. This year the theme was the lovely girls on backglasses.
Despite the rainy weekend it was electric inside as many visitors came to this event. The pinballs were busy all the time and minor repairs were needed sometimes.
Among the machines here are some of these little treasures that were present! The first table…this beautiful Sexy Girl on sale.
A fully restored World Beauties. Looks like brand new!
This unusual “New Star's Phoenix” from Zaccaria...
...two French pins from Rally: “Landing on Venus” (very evocative, isn’t it?!)...
...and the “Happy Papeete”. Look at the cabinet with this unusual design!
We continue with this dot matrix Jolly Park from Spanish manufacturer Spinball.
Also from Spain, this nice Dragon from Interflip.
A very rare kit from the French designer Christian Tabart with the “Le Grand Huit".
Here was a Pistol Poker from Alvin G and a Baby Pac-Man...
... and we finish with a very special and unique item, this automatic crepes machine, which does work!!???
As with most of the French shows, Sorgues is a small one but it has a cordial atmosphere. I particularly enjoyed the dinner time when, after the public had left the building, we switched off the lights and the machines in order to eat in peace and quiet., But after eating, machines were switched back on for the exclusive use of collectors and exhibitors, and a mini tournament was improvised on the Jolly Park! To conclude, that was my first time to this show and I don’t regret the 500 km I drove. I am expecting to be at the next edition! |
