AC/DC

Date: Sunday 8th January, 2012, updated 9th January, 2012

Stern have confirmed what pretty much everyone has known for many months; that their next game is going to be themed around the rock band AC/DC.

A new teaser video released today announces the Steve Ritchie-designed game and lists the twelve complete music tracks used in the soundtrack:

  • Back In Black
  • For Those About To Rock
  • Hell Ain' t A Bad Place To Be
  • Hells Bells
  • Highway To Hell
  • Let There Be Rock
  • Rock 'N' Roll Train
  • Thunderstruck
  • T.N.T.
  • War Machine
  • Whole Lotta Rosie
  • You Shook Me All Night Long

Continuing with the marketing model introduced with Transformers, AC/DC will be available in three variants; Pro, Premium and Limited Edition with the Premium having the same game code and playfield features as the Limited Edition, but without all the enhancements to the game's trim.  However unlike Transformers, the Premium version isn't expected to have any self-imposed limit on the production numbers. The Limited Edition version was designed first, and the Premium and Pro models derived from it.

Stern also claim this is the "best sounding pinball machine ever!". It has been suggested AC/DC will include an enhanced sound package with upgraded speakers.

Well, we are now able to confirm that a new crossover system and enhanced speaker wiring will be included to produce a much improved sound for this game.  But that's not all, because the Limited Edition version will include a huge 12-inch subwoofer to make sure the game shakes you all night long.

AC/DC will premiere at the IMA show in Germany in a week's time, followed by EAG-Expo in London the following week.  Two machines are en-route to Germany right now and will be updated with the latest code just before the show opens.

Additionally, if you enjoyed the sarcastic comments and taunting directed at you by the Skull in No Fear, you're in for a treat with AC/DC where a Devil-like character will challenge and entice you in an exciting and humourous way.
