Following the reveal of the all-gold Smaug model in our previous The Hobbit update, Jersey Jack Pinball today released pictures of redesigned Smaug heads for the Limited Edition and Smaug Gold Special Edition models.

While public reaction to the playfield and artwork changes was overwhelmingly positive, there was a more muted reception for the new Smaug head which was fully clad in gold and blended into the pile of gold coins surrounding him.

Now the head has been repainted to bring back some of the dragon's natural red skin colour, while still keeping traces of gold.

Meanwhile, the Limited Edition model gets a red dragon head without the gold detail.

Orders for the Smaug Gold Special Edition can be made until 31st December 2014. Buyers of either edition of The Hobbit can purchase an additional alternative version of the Smaug head for an additional $200.
