THE WALKING DEAD

Stern Pinball have officially announced what we revealed two weeks ago, that their next title would be The Walking Dead.

So far, two models have been announced - the Pro and the Premium. The Premium usually includes the same playfield as any Limited Edition version, with only the trim and bling being enhanced on the more expensive LE version.

The Pro includes red trim around the backbox to match the backbox side art, and a speaker panel decal to match the translite image. Although the TV company AMC is heavily promoted the style of the artwork is very much in the style of the comic books.

The Premium version has a brown theme, using extended side armor in that particular hue, and a fire button on the lock bar like the ones used on AC/DC and Star Trek.

The Premium model features the same translite design and speaker panel as the Pro, but adds colour-matched legs and a different cabinet and backbox sides art package.

As you can see, both the Pro and Premium versions incorporate a standard DMD to show the in-game animations and the scores. This is not the first of Stern's next generation machines with an LCD panel.

On the playfield, the design bears more than a passing resemblance to Metallica's design but adds some additional shots and scoring opportunities.

There's no information about a Premium version yet, but when you move up to the LE model, you add the fish tank with the zombie heads over the right ramp, spinners, an a drop target on the shot back to the shooter lane.

Both versions feature a bash toy in the centre right, and a shot on a magnet in front of the jail to start multiball. The Limited Edition model also adds a crossbow ball cannon on the bottom apron which can be used to shoot the ball at specific targets.

Here's a full list of the features in each model.
