ELVIS SPOTTED

Story dated July 1, 2004

Although not yet officially announced by Stern, it has been rumoured for some time that their next new game would be based on Elvis Presley.

Now, we have a first glimpse at the game from America's TV Guide listings magazine, where the game is offered as a competition prize.

While it may seem surprising that the artwork is mainly black, once you know that the game is designed by Steve Ritchie, it all becomes clearer.

Ritchie's games are usually dark coloured - Black Knight, High Speed, Star Trek TNG, No Fear, Terminator 3, etc - and the colouring for Elvis continues that trend.

The cabinet look to be in a similar style to Lord of the Rings which was created by Jerry Vanderstelt so perhaps this is another combined effort with Kevin O'Connor doing the playfield.

Unusually for a Ritchie game, there appears to be a manual ball launcher - something not seen on one of his games since Rollergames in 1990 but in keeping with the game's expected target market of older players who prefer a manual launcher.

There are no more details available yet but Pinball News will bring you all the latest news as we receive it. In the meantime, why not enter the competition for a chance to win the game?
