ARCADE ODYSSEY |
Location: 12045 SW 117th Avenue, Miami, FL 33186, USA. Report by Eric Rodriguez This place is out of the way, but is the best kept secret in Miami FL. Miami is not known for pinball on location and it's usually very hard to find even one table anywhere in the entire city. Arcade Odyssey changes all that by having no fewer than nine pins on location.
The games are all DMD- or Pinball 2000-based and incredibly, are all 50 cents a play for FIVE BALLS! The arcade uses a token system (four tokens for a dollar) on all their games, no swipe cards here. As for the pins, when I went recently they had in place a Williams Bram Stoker's Dracula, a Premier Super Mario Bros., a Stern Simpsons Pinball Party, a Bally World Cup Soccer, a Data East Star Wars, a Williams Terminator 2, a Stern Terminator 3, a Sega South Park, and a Williams Pinball 2000 Star Wars Episode 1.
The games were all in fairly good to excellent condition. The Dracula, DE Star Wars, South Park and Episode 1 games in particular felt factory floor new. The other games had seen some use, but were all very playable and had excellent flippers and fully working mechanisms. The owner told me he was a major pinhead and he maintains the pins regularly to make sure they always play as flawlessly as possible.
They had everything from classic '80s 'golden age' titles to newer fighting games. The owner said that all of the games came out of his private collection and that he's trying to share them with the world. All I could say to that was, "Thanks". Their website is at: www.arcadeodyssey.com
