I came across Bene Pizza and Pasta and Retroarcade about 7 years ago when it first opened. It really brought back the childhood memories of when I was a kid and the classic pizza parlors that were around at that time in the early '80s.
One of the main things that came to my attention is the number of pinballs, and how well maintained they were. When they first opened they had Indiana Jones, Cactus Canyon, Medieval Madness, Gilligan's Island, Junkyard, Tales of the Arabian Nights, Cirqus Voltaire and Safecracker. Through the years the pinball selection has changed many times.
The owner Bobby Lanphier has currently changed the line-up to completely Sterns these days, he says that after looking at the earning numbers, the new Sterns since Simpsons Pinball Party was released have easily out-earned the Bally/Williams games he started with, by at least 4:1.
The current line-up consists of Shrek, Batman, Indiana Jones, Spider-Man Black, Lord of the Rings and Terminator 3. All of these games look like they slid right out of the box and the owner says they are waxed and maintained weekly so will always look that way.
Along with the pinball is an impressive collection of classic and modern vids. What I found very interesting is how they said they will never do redemption pieces. They will always stay with that classic arcade feel.
So if you are in the midwest and have a chance, I highly recommend stopping by Bene Pizza and checking out the current pinball line-up and the food is all home made and fantastic.
