Report by John

Although he's been to Macau to report for us before, our roving reporter John returns to Fisherman's Wharf on the peninsular and finds a new location operating pinballs.

On last Friday of June 2013, my wife and I had a one-day visit to Macau. Macau is an unforgettable place for me since I spent a happy childhood there. (^0^)

Around 6:00pm, we arrived at Macau's Fisherman's Wharf (澳門漁人碼頭) which is a definitely a beautiful place for visitors to enjoy.

I had a dinner with 2 pretty girls (including my wife, of course) in a Japanese restaurant there called Nagoyaka Tei (和花亭).

This restaurant was nice and the prices for food were reasonable.

After the meal, we went straight to the AfriKana Bar for some pinball. Unfortunately, we found the bar was closed for private party. (/_\).

We had no choice other than to disappointedly walk back to the HK-Macau ferry terminal.

During the journey back, we also visited the Underground Amusement Center (秘密基地) for a look.

Surprisingly, we found two pinballs there - a Spider-Man and a World Poker Tour.  It seemed that the Spider-Man had been moved back to the amusement centre some time ago.  It also seems that the WPT pin had been out of order for a long time.

The Spider-Man pin was in acceptable condition and it charged MOP5 (~US$ 0.6) per 3-ball game.

I could only play it for 20 minutes before running back to the terminal to catch the ferry.

Here are some more details of the Underground Amusement Center:

  • Pinball: MOP 5 (~USD 0.6) per 3-ball game

  • Business hours: Mon–Thu 12:00– 23:00, Fri–Sun 12:00–02:00

  • Telephone: (853) 8299 3300

UPDATE by John

I visited the Underground Amusement Centre on a hot afternoon on 1st July 2014. There had been three changes since my previous visit in June 2013.

First, the amusement centre had been relocated to another building adjacent to the old location.

Second, while the two pinballs - World Poker Tour and Spider-Man - were still there, they had been moved near to the main entrance.

Surprisingly, they had been restored and were in very good condition.

Third, the size of the new centre is smaller than that of the old one. Some unpopular games had been replaced by more popular ones, and as a result I felt it had more guests than before.

I stayed there for two hours in total, and went back to Hong Kong that evening.
