Rock Around the Clock sells, repairs and restores pins, video games, neon signs, slot machines and vintage soda machines, but they also provide a generous and fun service to the community as well.

Somehow oddly reminiscent of Twilight Zone’s back glass

During a recent visit to Sacramento I did some Google-ing for pinball venues and immediately hit upon Rock Around the Clock, which is just outside of Sacramento in Rocklin, California.  What immediately caught my eye was the magic word: "FREE".  Every Thursday evening, Rock Around the Clock hosts a Hot Rods and Pinball night. 

All are welcome to show off their hot rod in the parking lot, and all games in their showroom are free to play after 5pm.  They even throw in free sodas.  How cool is that?  It's a relaxed, friendly and affordable entertainment venue to reminisce, show off your hot rod and talk pinball.

Tragically, I was not at Rock Around the Clock on this particular Thursday

Rock Around the Clock's showroom is like a trip to a mini pinball museum with every era represented.  Modern dot matrix games such as Fish Tales, Corvette, Addams Family and Star Wars stand shoulder to shoulder with a dozen electro-mechanicals, solid states, and even a couple of woodrails.  Among them were Doozie, Darling, Playboy, Solar Ride and Stellar Wars. 

A historic pre-flipper Victory fills out the vintage side of the mix and a Star Wars: Episode One rounds off the modern era pins.  Of course, as all these machines are for sale the roster is constantly updated.  The showroom is surrounded by neon signs, jukeboxes, vintage slot machines, video games and tons of other drive-in era memorabilia.
