JERSEY JACK PINBALL REVEALS FINAL TOY |
Date: 13th November, 2012 We'd seen the device and the effect it produces during out factory visit, but today Jersey Jack Pinball officially revealed the hitherto undisclosed crystal ball toy.
As we'd previously speculated, the crystal ball uses a small backlit LCD monitor - similar to the one used in the Tron arcade cabinet toy mod available for the Tron:Legacy pinball - which fits against a flat face at the rear of the crystal ball, so that the image is refracted by the glass and the video appears within the ball. The display is believed to use a micro SD card which stores a number of pre-rendered clips. These can then be called up by the main computer on demand according to the game's rules. You can see how the video clips look in this video:
The revelation comes as Jersey Jack Pinball make their first appearance at the IAAPA show in Orlando where they have eight The Wizard of Oz machines on their 600 ft2 stand.
IAAPA runs from 13th to the 16th November 2012, after which some of the machines will be sent to select distributor while others may go on test.
